Attack on RAWA staffer
flayed
By A Reporter
ISLAMABAD, March 19: The Revolutionary
Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) has condemned an attempt on the
life of one of its employee working in a charity hospital for Afghan refugee
women and children in Khayaban-i-Sir-i-Syed.
A volunteer of RAWA was shot and injured on
Tuesday night by three assailants when he was leaving the Malalai Hospital.
A RAWA spokesperson said the motive behind
the attack was to discourage the association from continuing its activities
aimed at winning the rights of Afghan women and children, who were being
brutalized and suppressed for more than two decades.
"We know such attacks are planned with
the notion of making RAWA stop its activities. But, if the martyrdom of our
leader could not discourage in carrying forward our goal then such attacks can
in no way weaken our resolve and determination," the spokesperson said.
The
spokesperson said: "The important issue for RAWA is the insecurity which
its members and supporters face in Pakistan.
