A.N.S.W.E.R. press release: March 6, 2003 BUSH PUSHES CLOSER TO THE BRINK OF WAR AS ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT PREPARES FOR MASS PROTESTS ON MARCH 15TH In a nationally televised news conference today, Bush repeatedly announced that his administration is days away from the "final stages of diplomacy," signaling the imminence of a war on Iraq. Bill Hackwell, Vietnam veteran and organizer at International ANSWER, called Bush's news conference, "nothing more than falsifications, lies and deceptions. Once again, the only thing that Bush's statements clarified was his administration's intent on going to war, and going to war soon." ANSWER Youth and Student activist LeiLani Dowell stated, "Bush turned reality upside-down when he said, 'I will not leave the American people at the mercy of the Iraqi dictator and his weapons,' without a shred of new evidence. Bush made it clear that it doesn't matter what the weapons inspectors do or don't find, and that this war is really about reclaiming Iraq for U.S. corporate interests." British papers have signaled the dates March 13-17th as a possible start of the war. As the deadline for war approaches, anti-war organizers are gearing up for what could be the last mass protest before the war starts. On March 15th, protesters will converge at Civic Center in San Francisco and the White House in Washington D.C. to tell Bush "No Blood for Oil." International A.N.S.W.E.R.
